The San Mateo Superior Court has broadened their electronic filing program to include permissive eFiling for Family Law cases as of April 1st, 2019. During the permissive stage, the courts accept both traditionally paper-filed documents and eFiled documents. This transitionary time allows filers to familiarize themselves with the new digital system before the mandatory implementation date, which is on track to occur in 2020.
Although Family Law cases may now be filed electronically, other cases still require hard copy filings. Please refer to The San Mateo Superior Court’s website for a full list. If you are not sure of your case type, contact your lawyer or review any available paperwork.
